2 ACCUSE THIRD IN BLACKMAIL

International News Service Wire

NEW YORK, Aug. 13–Harry Hechheimer resumes his monotonous monologue of denials and protestations of innocence today at the Harry Bannister extortion trial.

Hechheimer, ex-attorney, is accused with Jerome Jacobs, another lawyer, and Raymond Derringer, photographer and detective, of extorting $1,800 from Bannister at the time the latter was engaged in a child-custody fight with his former wife, Ann Harding, screen star.

Both Hechheimer and Jacobs are attempting to blame Derringer.

Derringer, along with the two lawyers, is accused of having threatened to give Miss Harding certain damaging affidavits against Bannister. Bannister said he paid $1,800 to get the affidavits, only to find the whole transaction a “shakedown” based on a fraud.
