I was kind of shocked to find this on the internet. Edward Sloan was my grandfather. He died 3 months before my mother was born. I found it as I was looking for info for my 2nd grade son’s family tree project at school.
Edward Sloan was my grandfather. He died in this accident three months before my mother was born. I have always heard this story but it was interesting to actually find info. From what I remember, they found the body of Jack Ghezzi but not John or Edward Sloan. My great-uncle went to Michigan during the search. He told me that they found pieces of the boat and from the scratches on the wood, it looked like a larger ship might have run over their boat.
Hello Laurie.
I will try to find the news article and scan an image of it and post it here if I can.
I just happen to have a lot of old newspapers so I do not actually know anything more about it.
